Typical installation
Hikvision with this solution, covers small projects such as one household to an apartment complex, thank to this Villa series and building series. Let’s cut the chase and discuss about each type of panel.
Outdoor panels
There are two outdoor panel models, DS-KD8002-VM and DS-KD8102-V, both with CMOS low illumination HD (1280×720) camera and a 120° very wide angle. 8002 series is covered with tampered glass, and the 81002 series is a combination of tampered glass and stainless steel. With an intelligent light supplement the buttons are automatically blue lighten in case of dim light. Thanks to 120 dB WDR, the image provided are very clear and sharp.
There are three ways to grant access, remote from the indoor panel, locally by code, and the last one is by sweeping a card over the embedded card reader. Beside the internal card reader, the video panel has Wiegand 26, Wiegand 34 and RS-485 interfaces in order to connect external card readers. Noise suppression and echo cancellation makes can also be found on these units, by which, the call does not contain any external noise, making the audio signal more clear. If a person approaches to door station, thanks to IR human detection function, the panel will automatically turn on. Both models comes with a 3.5″ TFT LCD screen with 480×320 resolution, allowing users to browse into it’s very intuitive easy menu. The panels can send alarms according to door magnetic contact status or tamper-proof function.
Villa door stations
Hikvision’s ip intercom portfolio, beside the outdoor panels, contain also a residential product range, more exactly DS-KV8X02-IM and DS-KV8102-IP/VP series. Both series assures a HD video surveillance, a 120° wide camera, and a low illumination CMOS sensor.
Functions such as self adaptive light supplement, noise suppression and echo cancellation, and alarm functions (tamper-proof alarm, and door magnetic contact alarm), can also be found on these models. With one, two or four buttons, such solution can be met on every household.
Indoor station
The last but not the least products from Hikvision ip video phone portfolio are the indoor monitors. There are two indoor monitor series, DS-KH8301-WT and DS-KH6310(-W)/DS-KH6300(-W).
DS-KH8301-WT comes with a 7″ TFT LCD 1024×600 touch screen monitor/DS-KH6310(-W)/DS-KH6300(-W) comes with a 7″ TFT LCD 800X600 touch screen monitor , a 0.3 megapixel embedded camera for DS-KH8301-WT, an internal ominidirectional microphone, and loudspeaker for a more clear voice from any angle, a TF card slot for a maximum 32GB capacity. Two neighbors can easily communicate thanks to the intercommunication function. The unit can be set in order to auto-respond to any incoming calls or even reject them.

I’m looking forward to buying this Video door station.
I already have 5 Hikvision cameras in my house all being powered over standard PoE (802.3at , at 48V DC, 2A).
My concern is that both this door station and indoor unit specifications state that their power input is “Power Over Network Cable (DS-KAD606, DS-KAD612)/12 VDC”. What concerns me is that Hikvision doesn’t state that its support the regular 802.3 PoE standard but rather Hikvision’s own PoE standard…
My question is: is this a typo in Hikvision specification sheets (so that I can use my existing PoE infrastructure?

Hi Miguel,
The answer is yes but you need to use an external 12VDC power supply.

argh…that sort of defeats the purpose of having invested in a PoE infrastructure beforehand…this is probably going to be the single reason I’m choosing alternative IP door bell solutions just for the fact that they stick to PoE standards…

To be clear, their “Video Distributor”, which is nothing more than Hikvision’s own nonstandard PoE switch ups the cost of this solution by another 250 euros (277 USD) which is insane given that it is power and cost inefficient (powering another device in the network duplicating efforts doing the same job as my standard PoE-enabled switch). If I want to use alternatively a DC 12V source to power my video doorbell, it would sit around 25 meters away from the house, I’d need to run a CAT6/5e cable along with regular 220V power line on existing pipes and make a way to waterproof a housing for a 12V DC transformer sitting next to the doorbell…it seems like I’d be doing an extra effort either way to work around a product limitation…when there are quite a few alternatives. But I love Hikvisions ivms software ecosystem so this is making me hope I can find a sensible way to have Hikvision’s doorbell solution integrated within my network….sigh. Do you have any video of their doorbell system at work?

Thanks Cristian, this is appreciated, it looks like a neat package, it seems the guys in the video were using the indoor video unit to answer, I wonder how this looks on IVMS 4200 on Windows and IVMS 4500 on iOS

Hi Miguel,
I have the same curiosity. Since the release news I long for testing this units. If you’ll find any videos or tutorials please fell free to share it with us.

I just noticed that the iOS app shows nothing about video intercom, while ivms 4200 does. 😦 I also shot some questions at Hikvision europe about this new product line and they told me they had no info on it…I also couldn’t find any product pages on “official” hikvision websites…they all seem to be coming from distributors scattered throughout europe, but without actual Hikvision regional support? this is bizarre

But still, if you search o their portal hikvisioneurope.com/portal you can find a folder called Intercom with some firmware files.

Why thank you Mr. Hikvision Support Engineer, you’ve informed me correctly indeed 🙂

I see, maybe that support engineer doesn’t know about this products:)) just kidding. I heard that this summer all IP intercoms are available for order. Strange answer form a Hikvision representative.

Seems so. This seems like a pre-launch phase where a handful of European distributors got hold off a few of these units even before Hikvision Europe has updated their internal support knowledgebase about this new product line. It may well be premature to buy them at this stage (Hikvision website search shows nothing on these individual product ids, but there’s a “intercom” pdf brochure similar to the info you posted in this article tucked deep down in their website). the newer ivms 4200 versions have a “video intercom” tab but the iOS ivms 4500 doesn’t mention anything about them (the mobile app support for this would be where it would make more sense, so to compete with the likes of “Ring”, “Doorbird”, “Skybell” and other specialized offerings). I’ll eagerly be checking for news 😉

Just an update: I’ve took the plunge and bought a DS-KH6310 indoor station and
DS-KV8102-IM door station combo. I can confirm that a passive poe adapter capable of outputting 24V at 0.5A is going to suffice. I’m using a couple of Ubiquiti POE-24-12W poe adapters without any issues.
First impressions is that this is a very immature product line…it took me days and several headaches to set it up correctly (just the two devices talking between each-other, I’m still struggling to get the Hik-Connect iOS app to work with these). I’m a fairly technical person…I’m very used to poor documentation but this intercom family line is just on a league of its own in terms of imaturity. From conflicting instructional documents, to documented steps which assumed the use of unreleased configuration-aid software versions that I couldn’t get hold off anywhere…I’m starting to fear that this wasn’t a good choice for my hard earned money 😉

I noticed a sentence that may spark confusion in my last comment: when I typed – “I can confirm that a passive poe adapter capable of outputting 24V at 0.5A is going to suffice” – I really meant that 24V 0.5A is needed per device (I’m using two Ubiquiti POE-24-12W adapters to power my indoor and door stations)

in terms of physical finish and feel…these devices are very polished: they do look upscale (but the indoor station TouchScreen UI sort of sucks…slightly unresponsive and slow in general…reminds me of the early days of smartphones using Symbian…why the hell Hikvision didn’t use Android or a similar ecosystem for this UI is beyond my understanding…the UI on-screen keyboard is a visual copycat of the early iOS screen keyboards…but much less responsive than the original)
